Our favorite things to do on the island: Wake up with a coconut iced latte from any coffee shop, a tuna rice ball from Iyasume cafe, and take a hike up Diamond Head trail. Have poke as a second breakfast at Ono Seafood afterwards.
Map to Makapu'u Point Lighthouse Trail for an easy hike and some quick photos, then head north towards the mountain. If youβre feeling adventurous, book an ATV tour at Kualoa Ranch, or visit Byodo-in Temple for a more zen activity. Get back on the road and have lunch at Giovanniβs Shrimp Truck on the northeast corner of the island. Drop by Kahuku Farms to shop some local treats, then find a spot at Waimea Bay Beach Park on the North Shore to relax.
After getting some good beach time, get back in the car and drive into Haleiwa town, park at Haleiwa Store Lots and get an acai bowl or shave ice. Take the highway back to Honolulu and watch the sunset on Waikiki Beach. For dinner, take the car out one last time for contemporary Vietnamese at Pig and the Lady in Chinatown, or check out Side Street Inn for Hawaiian comfort food.
Dining
Poke:
Garlic shrimp β the best way to refuel after a beach day on the North Shore. Giovanni's Shrimp Truck is probably the most famous, but Fumi's definitely competes with their variety of flavors.
