FAQs

About Hawai'i

1
Where is Hawai'i? Which island are we going to?
Hawai'i is a group of islands in the central Pacific Ocean, between North America and Asia. Our wedding will be on the island of O'ahu, home to the state capital of Honolulu and well-known for its natural beauty, surf and culinary scene.
2
Do I need a passport?
Hawai'i is part of the United States, so you will not need a passport if you are departing from mainland USA.
3
What will the weather be like?
Tropical and warm! We expect temperatures to be in the 70s and are hoping for clear skies.

Wedding Events

1
Can you tell me about your wedding venue?
Our wedding day celebration will take part at Lanikūhonua Cultural Institute, which is now part of the Ko Olina resort community. The area was once the beloved vacationing home for the 15th ruling chief of ancient O'ahu, Chief Kākuhihewa. A lush, tropical outdoor space with gorgeous views of the Pacific Ocean, lanikūhonua translates to "where heaven meets the earth".

The wedding ceremony and reception will be fully outdoors in the Phase 2 site of Lanikūhonua.

Parking and restrooms will be available on-site.
2
What should I wear?
We would love for our guests to dress in semi-formal attire. Pack your favorite vacation outfits and have fun with color!

For the ladies, we recommend wearing flat sandals or chunky heels since our venue is on grass.

For the gentlemen, jackets are encouraged and ties are optional. Because it may be warm, consider suits in lighter materials.

Getting Around the Island

1
What's the best way to get around the island? Do I need to rent a car?
Unless you are planning to stay in the walkable areas of Waikiki for the duration of your trip, we absolutely recommend renting a car from the airport! While there are local bus routes and plenty of taxi and rideshares within the city of Honolulu, it would be best to rent a car to be able to explore the rest of the island.

Car rentals can be picked up at the rental center directly across from baggage claim.
2
Which neighborhoods do you recommend staying in?
If this is your first time visiting O'ahu, we recommend staying in Waikiki, where most of the island's hotels are concentrated. Yes, it's touristy, but offers easy access to dining, shopping, and amazing views of Diamond Head Crater. Waikiki is about a 40 minute drive from our wedding venue, but we will be arranging day-of transportation for guests who chose to stay there.
